Uses:

Solidworks is used in different fields including engineering, designing, and architecture. 

By using Solidworks you can quickly edit designs or redo or undo your designs.

It can be used to design and provide a variety of services in different fields.

Pros:

It is easily manageable and comfortable to use. 

It is cost-effective.

Allows a user to design and work faster and easier for 3D designing.

Time-efficient and both 2D drawings and 3D modeling can be done simultaneously. 

SolidWorks’ surfacing tools support complicated geometries that aren’t available in other programs, letting you take your surface work to new heights. You can also generate a surface from a solid model and repair existing parts in SolidWorks.

Cons:

It doesn’t provide a platform for making comprehensive images from raw data so you will need some other software.

Another thing is that, when it comes to merging files with other CAD software, Solidworks is not friendly or suitable for this function. 

Solidworks only runs on Windows and doesn’t support macOS or any other OS. 

SketchUp

SketchUp latest model is released recently which is SketchUp Pro 2021.

USES:

SketchUp consists of diverse features and capabilities which makes it easy for CAD users to do drafting and modeling.

Used in interior designing, engineering, architecture, video gaming, and filming designing. 

It supports proficiency in both 2D and 3D designing, engineering design, and different tools for multiple projects.

Designers use SketchUp as it is fast and provides quick access to tools. 

Pros:

As it is user-friendly, anyone knowing computer or design can use it comfortably. 

All the tools are easily available on the toolbar and you don’t need to go into searching for them.

You can easily share your files with other users in less time and without any extra effort. 

You can use it for free only if you are online.

Simple to use but powerful software.

Too much easy to learn.

Cons:

It’s not a BIM system. 

Not a professional tool, and only provides design. 

Undo option is not available which can be quite irritating for the user.

Creating and controlling a layout is hard.
